This recipe was given to me by my friend Dianne about a hundred years ago when we were living in Ohio. We’ve made nearly every year because they’re so easy to make and taste so good. One bite and you won’t be able to stop. Sorry you people who may be allergic to peanuts.
***********************************************************
1 ¼ pounds white chocolate
9 ounce bag of salted pretzels
1 ½ cups salted roasted peanuts
Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Break pretzels and stir into melted chocolate along with the roasted peanuts. Pour out onto waxed paper lined cookie sheets and spread evenly. Cool. (You can put them in the freezer for a few minutes to hasten the process if you’re in a hurry to sample these yummies-trust me, you will be.) After they’re cooled, break into small, bite-sized pieces and store in a closed, airtight container.
Note: I’ve made this delicious treat with those blocks of fake white chocolate you find in the baking aisle of most any grocery store, and they’ve turned out quite well (as long as you don’t have the “real” thing at the same time to compare with). However, the better the quality of chocolate used, the better the taste, and the good stuff from candy supply houses can get expensive, because these are so easy and so good you’ll want to make several batches to share with friends and family.
