Nearly two years ago, not long after I first began blogging, I wrote a post about a few oddities I’d discovered in Utah. It contained a newspaper photo of Lee Redmond, who lived in Lehigh Utah at the time, and her 33-inch-long fingernails. Those fingernails earned her a lot of notoriety over the years. She appeared on television news casts, the Ellen DeGenerous show, and I read that a television news station in Japan offered her $10,000 to trim them on live tv. But after growing those nails since 1979 she refused to part with them.
Alas, I’m sorry to inform you that on two days ago, on Wednesday, those nails and her fingernail record were shattered when Ms. Redmond, now of Salt Lake City, was involved in a four-car pileup. She was in a passenger seat and ejected from the vehicle, which begs the question was she buckled in or was she unable to fasten the buckle? She and two others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. I don’t know how she feels about her tragedy, but if I hear anything I’ll post it here.
Who do you suppose has been cleaning her kitchen for the past 30 years?
Where, dear Alice, do you find these thing. Goodness.
Can you imagine how painful it would be to have nails like hers … and then have them shattered? Ewwwwww
Never mind the kitchen chores. What about personal hygiene ? Did she even wash her hands ?
